Peripheral arterial disease (PAD)

Hey ho everyone. Me again, being overly anxious.

So I'm still waiting for my CT scan, I've just about come to terms with that. So just a question, sorry if this is ridiculous.

For the last 4 days now I've had a really sore left leg (out of the blue simply whilst walking). Basically one small area on the lower part of my left shin just a bit above the ankle. The main leg muscle (Tibialis anterior) running along the shin bone.

It's really sore when I start walking but obviously stops when I don't walk, or don't walk too far. Feels like someone has kicked me in the shin, right on the bone. I have looked up the symptoms of PAD (by accident) and generally I don't have any of them but I'm still anxious over it because of everything that's happened in the last few months.

I'm assuming it's shin splints or a muscle pull? (had this before being a runner but not for a long time) but I have no idea how I managed to do it which bothers me.

I'm assuming that if there were any bad blockages causing reduced blood flow in any veins around the shin there would be visual signs of such? Everything looks fine and it's just one leg, no pain anywhere else. Would PAD even affect the shin area and just that area? From reading it seems like it's just the thighs, calf's, and feet with multiple symptoms.

Hi Lawrence78

It is concerning when we have a new symptom and it can trigger our mind to over worry.

I have found the symptoms below as listed on the NHS. Perhaps keep an eye on it and see if any other symptoms appear over the next couple of days. Just as some reassurance, I don’t think it is PAD, but of course, I’m not medically trained.
