Hi all,Triple bypass in 2004 , all blocked up again now (had a good run tbh ! )

Have been told i will need another triple ,my question is has anyone else had 2x triple bypasses , how was it and where did they take the grafts from for the bypass , previously they used one from left forearm, one from right calf and one from mammary cavity

Hi Flagger

I hope you’re well today.

I can’t say I have heard of anyone have 2 triple bypasses. However, it can be done when necessary.

Unfortunately, I have no advice to offer. I will give you the BHFs’ helpline number below in case you want to call them to find out more.

I wish you the very best with your next bypass.

Let us know how you get on.

All the best.

Tos

My stories on here somewhere I had a triple in 1977 age 31 now 2023 I’m 77.Grafts taken from my right thigh.I must have been very lucky judging by life expectancy after a triple, although I never had a heart attack and was super fit.I got mild angina when exercising e.g. football training circuit training..

At present waiting to hear from Guinness world records if I am the longest surviving triple heart bypass patient present record 34 years me now nearly 46.

I’m told the doctors will try stents before attempting to do another triple bypass. Have you asked whether that’s possible. It’s big surgery especially since you have already had it done previously. The mammary graft is usually very reliable and can still work very well even when the other grafts fail. I’m not medically trained but I seem to remember the surgeon told my husband that they use the mammary graft as the main one because it can withstand a lot of the pressure whereas the other Grafts are taken from usually the legs so they aren’t as strong. Hoping you get better soon. Good luck 🤞
