Hello Sewing19,

Welcome to the forum, you said in one of your posts that you are having twinges in the chest area. I had Aortic valve replaced and bypass done 5 years ago, they harvested my artery from the mammary artery in the left side of my chest and had twinges there I described it like someone pulling an Elastoplast off. When I had my post op check with the surgeon asked about it he explained that when they harvest the artery they rip it out! So the nerves are trying to join back up and they get it wrong hence the twinges he said it would take about 6 months for them to sort themselves out and he was right on the money. So if they took one from there I would imagine that’s your twinge.

Again welcome, hope you continue to recover well.

Best wishes Pauline

Hi Pauline. Thanks for your reply. My arteries were harvested from my leg. If they ripped that one too then no wonder it’s been sore. My leg was more sore than my chest.

. I think my chest twinges are the wires knitting into my sternum and cardiac nurse said to expect these for up to 12 months. Bio oil is helping with the healing though. At the moment I’m very tired. I’m not used to it because I’ve felt I’ve done so well.

I’m putting it down to high BP, which GP and I are working on, a cold and doing too much.

It’s good to chat to people who’ve been there.

Stay well and safe

Christine

New bone grows over the wires and that takes about 18 months, my surgeon said by 18 months my sternum would be stronger than his😂

Hello... I have been a Type I diabetic since childhood and had a quadruple bypass three years ago.

May I ask what medications you are on? I was on Lisinopril before my bypass. Afterwards I had Bisoporal added and over time have dropped to the minimum dose of each. Dual therapy tends to be more effective than single therapy.

Have you had the circulation checked in your legs. Unfortunately PAD (peripheral arterial disease) often accompanies CVD (cardio vascular disease) particularly in diabetics and smokers.

Hi MichaelThanks for your reply.

At the moment I am on Bisoprolol 2.5mg morning and Ramipril 10mg at night. My BP was 200/78 at bedtime last night and 133/75 this morning. I’m speaking to my GP tomorrow and she has mentioned the dual therapy. I’m just 12 weeks post op so I know it takes time for the dust to settle.

I had only been started on BP meds 3 weeks before my heart attack after a random BP requested by ophthalmologist before my eye injections. The high BP is slight cause for concern for eye health as it can cause more bleeds. Ophthalmologist would like it under 135.

I’m confident I will get this sorted.

Take care

Christine

During the time I have had diabetes the BP recommendations have changed continually. They started at 140/90 but my current one is 130/75.

Just wondering. Before the random BP checks was your BP bring checked regularly?

Yes I was checking my BP monthly for Ophthalmologist. It had always been below 140/70. GP now issued Amlodipine 10mg to take in morning. I’m to carry on morning and night BP check and speak to her again in a week. 🤞🤞🤞
