I’ve been told fitting a pacemaker maybe the answer to my permanent AF. Does anyone who had AF have experience of this solution?

Hi Midnight2022
I have no experience of AF or a pacemaker however, there are others on here who do have a pacemaker to treat AF and I hope they will be along to offer their experiences.
In the mean time, I have found a link below which maybe useful for you to read over and see if it provides you with any reassurance in treating AF with a pacemaker.

I had a pacemaker implant a few months ago. I was diagnosed with PAfib a few years ago. Despite 2 ablations and taking meds the Afib has progressed. The pm was fitted as I was experiencing Syncope due to my heart pausing. It hasn't fixed my Afib. But my heart no longer stops. It's a difficult journey...Good luck x
have you spoken with your consultant about this. A pacemaker is usually the treatment when everything else has been tried and failed to bring relief. From my understanding a pacemaker doesn’t stop the a/fib from occurring but interrupts the signals which cause the disabling symptoms. It paces the heart into a more controlled rhythm but it doesn’t stop the heart fibrillating. Having a pacemaker can be liberating making a/fib sufferers enjoy a more normal life but it’s normally something to have when you’ve tried all the other treatments. Take care I hope you feel better soon x
I had a pacemaker fitted last September and an AV node ablation in November when drugs could no longer control AF. Although I am told I’m in AF 100% of the time now feel nothing! 👍
