Can any of you guys tell me how I go about a self referral to the Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital (if they will have me) I live in Shropshire.
I just want some options if my local hospital are just going to watch and wait with my AAA.
Thanks

A couple of years ago, my husband was found to have an AAA at 8.5 cm. He was too young for the standard screening for men at age 65. He was supposed to go to a London hospital for an EVAR (minimally invasive). However, the pandemic was rife and before he could be sent there, the aneurysm ruptured. He was standing at the top of the stairs at the time and fell all the way downstairs.
Paramedics and hospital staff were fab and he has recovered well, now plays golf and does 10 mile hikes. But he was extremely lucky, so I completely understand why you don’t want to do too much watchful waiting at 4.8cm! My husband does have a significant scar (joined up to his bypass scar!)
I can’t advise on which hospital you should go to other than saying make sure you get a really experienced surgeon and keep kicking up a fuss and make sure you get scans as I’m sure you know. Also keep your blood pressure down and don’t lift anything heavy or do anything strenuous. Very best wishes.
