Unable to obtain MRI either NHS or through

I was watching a breaking news on SKY international channel. Rod Steward. the rock star who has been bitterly complaining of not being able to get MRI scan although he is adamant that he id prepared to pay any amount. Obviously he was advised by medics either his own G>P> or specialist. I had encountered the same problem when my consultant advised MRI for something that was deteected on ultrasound scan. In my case I had a permanent pacemaker and that comes straight into into your mind. I had pacemaker after year 2000 and that was definitely safe as it was MRI compatible. My consultant was not helpful as he insisted on my having MRI nor did he try hard to secure any machine which would safeky do MRI. I had to switch to another consultant who did my cholecystectomy as a laparoscopy under ultrasound scan. I fully sympathise with Mr Stewart for facing the dilemma. I would like to share with other who faced the same challenge.

Yes I had the same problem. I too, have a Pacemaker and was originally told by my NHS Clinic that they would organise it. The person who said this, unfortunately left l, and I was told that my GP would arrange it. She didn’t. I finally had it, by default, through my insurance. I was told that I could have it, but then received a bill for part of it. Eventually they listened to recordings of my phone conversations with them , and agreed that Ihad been mistakenly told that they would pay all of it.
