myocarditis or something else?

hi, so just as an update I am currently in hospital with chest pain, palpitations, irregular pulse and feeling very weary.

was diagnosed with suspected myocarditis 2 weeks ago and have started to feel worse with palpitations, shaking, feeling like I’m going to pass out and very weary and pulse keeps jumping about. Had bloods and ecg which were both normal. I am currently awaiting an echo later today. And currently have a telemetry attached to me to record my heart for the next 24 hours.

The chest pain is manageable however not my main concern is this feeling dizzy, palpitations, shakes and just generally feeling so unwell.

Has anyone else experience this with myocarditis? Feedback most welcome as I’m very scared right now. ☹️

So sorry you're going through this ,I've had myocarditis twice now & always felt very weak ,dizzy & like I'm going to pass out ,it's just horrible. My ecg ,bloods & echoes were always normal which baffled me as I felt so so unwell. The gold standard for diagnosis is a cardiac mri ( that's what I was told) some people recover quickly & for others the symptoms can continue for a long time ,unfortunately complete rest is what's needed . I hope you get the help & rest you need 💕

Hi,

Yes these symptoms are what I experienced as well, I still get them sometimes. As it's often caused by viral infections, the symptoms are often made worse (in my experience).

Hang in there - my echo and recorder were clear and was only officially diagnosed after a CTCA and MRI.

I'm really sorry you're going through such a tough time, but glad you're in hospital and they're looking after you. It's soo scary. My myocarditis hasn't shown up on any tests, just pain and abnormal troponin on blood tests. I'm 6 werks since diagnosis and now seem to be experiencing regular but very brief feelings if dizziness.. I'm also tired, have been a bit fluey... sore throat etc but may not be related.. get as much rest as you can while you're in hospital and try to relax knowing that you're in a safe place. I hope you get some answers. Take care.

so sorry to hear you are really struggling. Does sound like your myocarditis has worsened as your symptoms are quite typical of an attack unfortunately.

Hopefully you will get better advice and care this time and an opportunity to completely rest allowing your heart to start the process of healing/recovery.

They should get you stablised soon and hopefully you will start to feel much better quite quickly. Hang in there and REST.

I had very similar chest pain, palpitations, dizzy spells, and weariness, back in November , thanks covid for the peri-myo, and 10 days in hospital. - its very scary but you will get through it , I'm at long last starting to feel normal and have been told I can exercise again, though it seems one step forward and then 2 back. The main thing as others have said for recovery is REST, and this really does mean rest. I was told no housework, no lifting, nothing, and only gentle walks if I could manage it , 3 months of been a couch potato basically. meds wise I was given beta blockers , to rest my heart, ACE, and colchicine . its scary and frightening now, but its just time and patience to let your heart recover and you will feel better

Hi I'm sorry to hear that you are struggling. Are you you still in hospital or have you recovered? I'm having the same symptoms as you but I was told I have long Covid. I've been sick since December with 3 chest infections and then got covid. I'm waiting to see the respiratory team. I have atrial fibulation but as far as I know don't have myocarditis. I just wondered how you feel now and whether you got sorted?
