help with results

Hello,

I have had some results through and am just trying to make sense of them in plain English! My major symptoms are a terrible lightheadedness and dizziness and palpitations plus blurred vision which get worse on exertion ( physical , emotional and mental).

Echo(July 2022)- left ventricular ejection fraction of 50% with left ventricular end diastolic dimension of 52mm. The right ventricle was not dilated with normal function.

transthoracic echo( Dec 2022)- 4D ejection fraction of 46% which correlates well with a visual impression. Right ventricle not dilated and the radial function appears to be mild to moderately reduced. The posterior wall seems to be hypokinetic.

Mri( Sept 2022)- normal chamber sizes and function. No right ventricular regional wall motion abnormalities and the right ventricular function was normal. Left ventricular ejection fraction reported at 58%. Mid wall late gadolinium enhancement in the septum.

24 hour Holter(Dec 2022)- sinus rhythm with 38 ventricular ectopics in 24 hours without ventricular tachycardia, atrial fibrillation or conduction system disease. Ectopics in the report appear to be monomorphic. Symptoms correlated with sinus tachycardia and a few isolated ventricular ectopics.

If anyone could help me with how serious this appears to be I would be so grateful!

Hi Pepsidave

I’m not great at interpreting results but what I do know is that the EF results have all been pretty encouraging.

The information about the Dec 22 holter monitor is saying that your heart was in a normal rhythm (so no irregular heart beat) and that you had 38 ventricular ectopics (extra heart beats which are usually harmless). The monomorphic part is indicating that all of your ectopics are occurring within a particular area of that ventricle (whichever one it might be).

I’ve experienced blurred and loss of vision at times with some of my symptoms so I sympathise with how you’re feeling - they’re not pleasant to endure regularly but I hope that things start improving for you.

Well done for reaching out for answers, I hope you find others who are better equipped to interpret all of your results for you and I’m sorry I can’t help more!

Best wishes

Thank you so much for replying! It’s reassuring to hear that things seem relatively ok.

Sorry to hear you’ve been having vision problems too. Hope you are doing ok!

You’re welcome although I should probably have started out by saying “not a doctor” 😂

My pre syncope symptoms are mostly linked to standing after long periods of sitting and too much physical exertion or a large amount in a short burst (eg bolting after a 4 year old escape artist 🙈). I was told by a consultant in my teens that it was to do with my low blood pressure and my blood not getting to my head in time. I used to faint quite a bit as a teen but thankfully haven’t had a syncope episode since March 2021 😁

Although I’m still living with my symptoms, I feel I’m starting to get a bit better at managing them, especially with my change in heart medication, thank you for asking.

I hope you can get some answers and hopefully find ways to manage if not get rid of your symptoms too.

Best wishes

My none medical view of those results would be that you appear to have a structurally well functioning heart but you have a few ectopics which MummaSoap has given an excellent interpretation. Ectopics can make you feel pretty terrible but they are not often considered an emergency although I would continue to ask your doctor about the symptoms and push for some treatment plan as your quality of life is obviously affected.

Thanks for replying, it means a lot!

That is reassuring to hear although as you say the quality of life is being affected horribly! I will go back to my GP and impress this upon them.

Hope you are ok!

Thank you for taking the time to reply!

Yes the symptoms I was having were the palpitations but also the presyncope , bison problems and shortness of breath. But I’ve come to accept this when walking especially. Things calm down when I sit down.

As you say there seems to be nothing in these results that would lead to me having such bad symptoms which is both reassuring of course but also a tad frustrating!

Hope you are doing ok!

hi Pepsidave. I had something similar and just googled all the terms. Though I’m sure someone here will know what they mean. Good luck!
