At the age of 71 I have been diagnosed as having a leaky heart valve, which was a bit of a shock, as I have never smoked, don't drink a lot of alcohol, eat a sensible diet and exercise.
I have has several tests, after feeling dizzy, breathless and feeling as if I was going to pass out since late 2021. May 2022 ECG and Echocardiogram June 2022. This showed slight and unexpectedly, that I had a significantly dilated proximal aortic root and there appears to be moderate to severe aortic regurgitation, at quite an eccentric jet. August 2022, CT Angiogram aorta. This concluded that the ascending aorta is dilated at the level of the Sinus of Valsalva. November 2022 had Trans-Oesophageal echocardiogram. I have been referred to King's for examination to decide what treatment/surgery will be required.
I would welcome any thoughts and/or advice from anyone who has experienced a similar condition and what the outcome has been.
Thank you.
