Hello, I'm a 29 Year Old male recently diagnosed with a condition called anomalous pulmonary venous drainage, I currently have to take beta blockers everyday, I now been suffering with these problems for 2 years with very little help from the NHS, I can now admit it has left me a bit depressed, I'm now under a specialist heart consultant waiting to be told how my condition will be resolved, I'm just wondering if anyone can give any advice if anything would be appreciated. Thank you

And in addition to what Hidden has explained so well, if you feel the need to talk one to one with someone about your condition there is always the BHF Heart Helpline nurse on hand as below
Interesting and I liked thatwasunexpected, explanation. Now the most important thing is make sure that you are looked after by the congenital heart team at your nearest location, I presume you are in UK? I am at norwich. These have been set up to ensure you are checked regularly. Now my problem is that my tricuspid valve was manufactured too low down. Thus making my right ventrical smaller. Plus I get tricuspid regurgitation. So I do not get the full litres of blood to the lungs. Thus cyanosis with heavy exercise. Eg long distance running. Fortunatly my left side is within limits. So you need to try and get some positives. Yes it is a pain to be told you have something from birth and has now only been found but you have got Thus far and your body has coped. What the medication will do is to remove the stress from the heart and assist it in becoming a bit more reliable. Also you are now on their radar and you will be checked, and monitored. Just remember that you can help yourself by loosing weight, some basic exercise. And just keep yourself in a healthy state. Hard I know. But the lighter you are the less pressure on the heart. There is a formula regarding body mass and height, to work out something called cardiac index. Still something iam finding out about. But you will have good days and bad. Take care.
