Hi, this is my first post to the community. I'm on verapamil 120mg for multi focal ventricular ectopy and have developed burning lower legs at night, starting around 4.30 to 5.30am. It lasts between an hour and an hour and a half. It started about 3 weeks after I began the medication on occasional nights and gradually built up to now being every night. GP ruled out venous reflux and peripheral neuropathy. Has anyone experienced anything similar or know how to get rid of the burning?

Verapamil side effects
Hi Silhillian21
I take Verapamil (SR) 120mg twice a day for chest pain and maintenance of my heart rhythm. I have been taking it for over a year now and I have not experienced this side effect. The one thing I did experience was bradycardia. However, this passed fairly quickly.
Maybe it is worth contacting your GP about it as the dosage can be increased/decreased.
Good luck !
Myalgia is listed as one of the side effects of Verapamil and your condition could be related, so my suggestion is to go back to your GP and enlist their help again. As I have said before medication is there to help not make us feel worse, and it is within the obligation of GPs to address that wherever possible.
I take verapamil but on a very low dose 40mg x2 a day,for my VT sorry to hear your having issues. I find I constantly have a headache which is annoying and apparently a common side effect.
Hope your GP can sort for you.
