have been subscripted 5 mg of amlodipine, i have now been taking it for a week , how long does it take to lower my blood pressure? i have just checked it at home and it still seems slightly high no change really, i am due to have my blood pressure checked with the nurse in a month,

hello everyone is different but advise I’ve had is most meds take at least two weeks to get to “full strength”. When do you check your BP that can have an effect too. I’d give it a couple of weeks but of course if dangerous high / worried seek help. Good luck I like amlodipine no side effects and controls my bp well. But again we’re all different- I’m on 10mg.

I’m sure it said when are good times to take to too but can’t find now.
Usually 10 to 14 days. After 3 weeks I had an allergic reaction with chest pains and groin pain so had to come off them but they got my BP down
