breathless in mornings

I’m worried about my dad. He has stents fitted after a heart attack in September and for a few weeks seemed to be recovering well. For the last couple of months it seems his recovery has stalled. He his not sleeping and seems very weak. He was previously fit and healthy. Mornings are particularly hard, when he is struggling for breath and shaking. The cardiac nurse seems unconcerned. Is there a way of getting a second opinion?

sorry to hear your father is struggling, would a discussion with his GP help to make a referral to hospital/cardiologist or could you contact his cardiologist directly? He has a right to a second opinion, with the utmost respect to the cardiac nurse. You’re concerned, he’s struggling, I’d push for it. It’s totally worth being a pest😊. Good luck.

thank you for your reply. It has encouraged me to persevere as it is not easy getting in touch with the cardiologist once you’ve been signed off by the hospital

definitely difficult, if you can get the name of their secretary that can be the best route as it’s hard to get to the cardiologist directly without appointment. Good luck. Oops just seen Cruiser25 has said this already 😁.

As fishface101 says, it really is worth being a little bit of a nuisance. I'd suggest ringing your Father's consultants secretary, they may be able to arrange a quick call to reassure or suggest other action, either way you'd be on it and hopefully gain some peace of mind, good luck
