Repatha : anyone on Repatha injections ? - British Heart Fou...
Repatha
Hi Legend2 , I too have FH and have been on Repatha for over two years. Initially I had a localised skin reaction to each injection which was unpleasant, (I am one of the people with an A4 list of allergies), and which I controlled by double dosing, (on medical advice), with antihistamines before and after injecting. After around 6 months my reactions started to subside and are now gone completely. I understand that this reaction at the site of injection was fairly common in the trials. Repatha has been great at controlling my chlosterol. Before taking it I was on 20mg Atorostatin (the most my body will tolerate having had full blown Rhabdomyolosis on 40mg simvastatin) and 15mg Exetimibe. These reduced my cholesterol to around 8.7 . Adding in fortnightly Repatha injections dropped it to 2.2. I'm now so use to injecting that I barely give it a second thought. A star on the calender means injection day: no problem. Repatha has given me a lifeline. I hope this answers your query. Of course everyone is different in how they repond to a particular drug regime. If you have further questions do ask.
Since I'm statin intolerant I've been on Repatha for about 4 years now and no issues. Also is fairly effective although my cardiologist always seems to want to bring LDL down lower. With Repatha it seems to stay around 70.
