Advice , explanation

Hi, I've just joined here as I don't want to Google things. I'm after a little advice / explanation if possible please. I'm so worried as I don't have a clue what Im dealing with here, how much of an emergency this is.

My mam was having chest pain, so a few month ago she was given a spray, which helped.

She then had a heart and lung scan. She got a letter (which she didn't understand). She had an appointment with a cardiology nurse yesterday .

The key points my mam took from it are:

Narrowing of LAD / furring.

70 -90% severity? I don't understand the context of this.

Prescribed 2 tablets for 6 weeks. Sees consultant in 2 weeks who will decide whether to give her 3rd tablet.

They are trying meds for 6 weeks, exercise classes with a cardiologist trained PT and diet changes, before a stent.

She has to continue with spray but use it 15 minutes prior to exertion rather than if she gets chest pain.

So any advice appreciated.

I'm supposed to be going on holiday and would be away for her consultant appointment. Whats the chances of him taking her into hospital? Would this happen 3 weeks into the medication, or would they see the 6 weeks meds through?

I'm debating whether to cancel my holiday altogether, but confused as to whether this is an "ongoing medical illness" rather than a 1 off emergency?

I hope this makes sense, sorry if I've waffled on but I feel a bit lost. X

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply to me, that all makes more sense to me now. My mam has just sent me a photo of the letter (I begged her to find it). These are the tablets. I feel a little better knowing that she hasn't been sent for stent straight away like you pointed out. My mam wants me to go on holiday (40th bday) she said there's nothing I can do about it. She has her husband so won't be alone, unfortunately he is recovering from shingles at the moment hence her going to appointment herself yesterday. He will go to her appointment in a few weeks with her so she won't be alone this time.

Thanks again, your brilliant at explaining things! Am I right in thinking if things remain as they are (dont decline / have an emergency situation) this will be an ongoing situation / longterm meds? Thanks

Dear Dreamer88

A warm welcome to you and your Mum to the forum, I hope that you find it as supportive as I and many others have.

There is nothing I can add to the excellent answers that you have received from member Thatwasunexpected other than to tell you both that you are not alone and once all the answers to your questions { yes there will be more } are answered the pair of you will be able to settle into some sort of normality.

Which will include you going off on holiday without worrying { do we ever stop } about Mum.

Take care and please keep us informed.

I think they would need to send her for an angiogram first before they decide to stent,

The CT angiogram can make the furring up/blockages seem much bigger than they actually are.
