I had an ablation in May last year. It was straight forward. I was treated as a day patient and was back home the same day. I hope that's reassuring.I continued to have some palpitations at night for about a month afterwards, as my body recovered, but I felt fine during the day.

I had my ablation in May, it was straight forward and the Consultant explained everything before and after. Medication stopped over a 3 month period and all is good.

Thanks for sharing your experience and happy that your recovery ensured you could stop your meditation. Hopefully my experience will be as straightforward as yours

Best wishes

Like you, I was worried about having my ablation. I even told my GP I was thinking I wouldn't go ahead with it. Her advice was to have it done and, as I trust her, I did.

I don't know if it's coincidence or whether it's the result of the ablation procedure, but I currently feel better than I have done for years!

I am still getting the occasional short run of tachycardia, but not the pounding palpitations that I had leading up to the procedure. My ablation was done in July, so still early days as far as I understand, and I haven't yet had a check up, but I think the improvement in my health is probably thanks to having it done. The only reason I can't be certain is because I also have chronic lung conditions and they are behaving at the moment, therefore it could be that having no infection is playing a part, and also, I've been treated for anaemia. So it's probably a combination of everything.

The procedure itself was straightforward and very quick. I have no memory of the procedure itself which was carried out under sedation, but I DO remember that when I was in recovery, I had awful toothache in every tooth! I was given morphine (lots of it, it seemed to me!) and an ultrasound was carried out straight away to ensure that everything was ok with my heart. The cardiologist was called back and he said that the ultrasound showed everything was fine, and he had not previously had anyone complain of severe toothache. His conclusion was that it was probably referred pain from the heart and that it would soon go. He was right and I was allowed home that afternoon after morphine had settled the pain which went away and didn't come back.

I would not have any hesitation about having the procedure repeated if necessary. The thought of it was much scarier than having it done!

Best wishes, xx Moy
