hi Im 33 and had an ecg 2 weeks ago just as a check up from a result I got back from blucrest which indicated a slightly abnormal qrs shape. Anyway I have had a doctor look over my new one and he’s told me my ecg is good no problems but it looks like I have a vertical heart, however she’s told me there is nothing to worry about. But of course I am now, does anyone have anything similar? Also I’m pretty shocked that they have managed to see that just from a standard ecg

This is a paper that shows how they determine heart position from ECG readings. ahajournals.org/doi/pdf/10.... It’s a bit technical but they talk about the readings that determine horizontal vs vertical at the bottom of column 1 on the second page. Interesting but I don’t think it is a cause for concern.

as far as i am aware (ex biology teacher and nurse) the position of the heart can vary, just like most other softish organs - the brain does not have much choice about it's position as it is in a sort of box, but heart, kidneys, bladder, uterus etc have average postions but they can vary within a range and still be normal - most people never know about the position or size of their internal organs!

Hello Dfox89I am 73 and needed to have a pacemaker implanted 2 years ago. The surgeon told me that I have a vertical heart which he wasn't expecting (he didn't check first!) but the pacemaker was implanted fine! So no need to worry. I got through 70+ years with a vertical heart and didn't know!!
