So i have " the virus that shall not be named" at the moment. Had it Easter as well but I wasn't too bad. Yesterday afternoon I noticed my HR was increasing. I already have sinus tachy and take bisoprolol.
I wanted to know if anyone else had experienced increased HR when suffering from Said Virus and was it short lived?Any tips to bring down the HR?
Im re posting as last post didnt like the name of Said Virus being named 😒😒

I also had the virus that can't be named alongside pneumonia, about 5 weeks ago. My heart rate is only just beginning to behave. Mind you I've put most of my symptoms down to pneumonia. The only thing I thought wasn't was a sore throat.
Just read your reply and I am so sorry you got it to as well as getting pneumonia you must have been really poorly and I hope you are on the mend now and feeling better x
Aww bless you that sounds awful. At what point did you realise it might not just be covid?
My resting heart rate was increased from day one of symptoms, but my sats were also quite low from day 3, so you’d also expect hr to increase with that. My normal resting is high 50s/low 60s, and it was up around 90 a lot of the time. Not sure how helpful I can be with the rest of your questions, though: I’m immunocompromised due to treatment for another condition so received an IV antiviral infusion on day 4 (had to wait for a positive test, which only occurred on day 3 of feeling really unwell). My hr and sats returned to more or less normal 2 days after that.
Hello
So sorry you have caught it again
I have had it 2 weeks ago just started testing negative Monday this week however I am still not feeling well but when I was testing positive my HR increased to 84 at times I mentioned it to the Doctor as it is usually in the low 60's but she said it would increase as I was fighting of a virus
Now it has gone back down to normal so yes mine increased for I would say just over a week
For me there was nothing I could do about it except wait and I feel when we start to get through this virus it starts to go back to whatever our normal is
Hello BeKind - I wondered how you were doing as you’d not posted anything for a while - that’s how I knew you must have felt bad as you really can’t be bothered to do anything when you are poorly with the dam thing but glad to hear you’re negative now. If you’re anything like me, I continued to feel tired for about 6 weeks later and the brain fog has got worse but apart from that - all good now and hope you are on the mend. I know you were so worried about catching it but in all honesty and looking back at your fears was it worth all that worry and stress? You’ve had it now, conquered it and back on the forum yay! Glad you’re back! Keep those wonderful messages of advice, hope and support coming. Glad you’re back! ❤️
Yes I am negative now but still have some of the symptoms and yesterday I started sneezing with a streaming nose that was like a bad cold starting
If I am honest which I always am I think I have had a good dose of it and I am still a bit fearful I would not like to catch it again it has left me washed out
Hello again, hopefully you’re over the worst of it now although yes, like I said it can leave you feeling tired weeks after but persevere, you’ll bounce back. I’m glad to see you’re back on the forum responding to others and providing your usual kind words and support. Please do one thing for me - be as kind to yourself as you are to everyone else. You’re stronger than you think. Sending big virtual positive hugs to you. By the way all okay here although I didn’t have much success with my GP re discussing HRT and medication for anxiety. I’ve been put forward for a couple of one to one sessions following some CBT support. Perhaps I just have to work this all out on my own. Based on the info given by the doc - I did decide HRT isn’t for me but I’ll work it out. Thanks for asking. Take care lovely BeKind ❤️
It seemed to affect my stomach a lot and that is the thing that does not seem to be improving as yet but hopefully and I agree it is unbelievable how tired this leaves you but thank you for been encouraging I still need it
Sorry your appointment did not go quite according to plan maybe if it is any help I have gone through the menopause without taking HRT it was not easy but due to blood pressure etc I decided along with the Doctor it was not a good idea
You can give those sessions a go and if it does not have the desired effect then you can go back to the Doctors and ask about trying some meds
Let me know how the sessions go and you know we are always here if you need us
It's normal for your heart rate to increase when unwell, especially during infections - it's just part of your body's defense system, the heart needs to work a wee bit harder.
When the virus is cleared you should go back to whatever is normal for you. Get well soon!
Yes my heart rate went up when I had it. I also had palpitations for about 12 hours one day, my heart rate went to 112 which apparently according to the doctor is quite normal!?
I was told it was my body fighting the infection.
my son had a virus in the summer and we ended up in hospital because his heart rate was increased. He has nothad other symptoms before so maybe it'd linked. Do check with your medical team. Wish you well
same with me at the end of March when I had Covid. I take Bisoprolol twice a day , Amlodopine once a day and Ramipril twice a day as well as Atorvastatin so was surprised my heart rate went to 100 or so . It returned to normal in a couple of days but it did freak me out to.
only just seen your post & hope you’ll improve soon - I usually have increased HR with most viruses/ infections - sometimes it’s an indicator to me even before I feel actually ill with whatever I have brewing or I look back thinking now I know why it was up
I recently had COVID (yes I'll say it) and yes my heart rate and temperature increases. I also had more eptopic bats than normal. I find this quite normal when my body is fighting infections (colds etc).
hi Danni, yes I experienced very similar.? I wasn’t poorly at all with the virus but I developed some lower abdominal aches one evening with fever symptoms lasting only about 4 hours
For the next 2 days I couldn’t stay off the toilet, my resting H/R was in 90s and if got up to get a drink of water my H/R was over 100.!!!
i just want to support what Captain Birdseye said - it is absolutely normal for your pulse rate to rise during an infection - you body is working hard to fight off the infection, this means that it needs energy and oxygen to reach all the systems which are working hard (very quietly and invisibly) to keep your body stable - this means your heart and lungs have to work harder to supply the oxygen and energy
i hope you get over the infection quickly with no lasting effects
Congratulations for getting your post on. Just shows how people need advice about C. As others have said, you are fighting an infection so it's normal for your heart rate to increase. Don't worry. Get well soon.
I had it and up went the old pulse rate, happened in hospital and they didn't bat an eyelid one nurse even said that they would be more worried if it hadn't gone up.
Had very mild symptoms, so mild that I was shocked when they said I was positive, all good now.
Me too! I had the first dose in January alongside 3 other members of my family who were staying with me, so this one which started Tuesday was certainly unexpected. Yes, my heart rate has increased, but I think this is due to having a really high temperature which has left me frozen, plus the persistent coughing. I have been advised to lie on my front, rest my elbows on the pillow and support my head in my hands whilst taking 3 deep breaths a few times. I certainly find this helpful and calming, alongside taking manuka honey with chopped fresh garlic in it, Vic vapour on my chest and a chopped raw onion on my bedside table. Hope you are better soon.
I have a pain in the backside cough too. I find taking a deep breathe, hold for 5 secs then breathe out slow. Repeat 5 times but on the last go instead of breathing out do a big cough instead. I find it helps clear the lungs. Hope your better
