I have terminal cancer and have also been diagnosed with hypo cardiomyopathy in the past 18months. I am able to walk without aid etc. with medication adjustments not so breathless, in fact I consider myself not ‘ill’ but living with a decease.
I prefer to be independent but it has been suggested I should apply.
Advice would be appreciated.

I highly recommend you contact McMillan support. They have been very helpful to my wife who has been supporting her father. They are very knowledgeable and have ways and means not open to us. You can talk through with them your conditions and they will let you know what you are entitled to.
Better to arrange a blue badge now rather than wait till you badly need one.
Dear Bustermydog
Please apply for it now, that way it will be ready to use when you decide you want to use it, reading your bio it would be very sad day if they refused you one. { but then this is a potty world }
Thankyou I am going to apply, I just thought I would have difficulty as when my late husband applied with heart failure ( later had a transplant) he had to go through hoops and a physical interview, mind you that was in the ‘90’s
good Im glad that you have decided to do it, it will be of help to you, take care
Hi, Love your username, I had a dog named Buster so resonates with me.
There is absolutely no reason why not to apply for the Blue Badge.
Take your time completing the application and put in as much information as you can. I did my application online which allowed me plenty of scope to add and change as I went on.
One thing to remember is that complete the form as though you're a passenger in a vehicle as well as being a driver.
thank you, I will attempt the online application. I live with my son who’s wife is the internet whizz so hopefully it will not take too long to fill in the application!
Blue badges are not just for drivers! Someone with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour issues for instance may need a blue badge to allow access to the community but with a speedy exit route if they become overwhelmed. The carer in such circumstances would be the driver.
yes, I thought as I could walk unaided and further than a 100 yds some days, I would be refused. My late husband went through hoops to get a badge and was dying of heart failure, far iller than I feel.
