hello, thank you so much for sharing your story with us. Couple of days ago I was 75 and almost exactly a year post triple bypass, is there any advice you could pass on to help newbies. I am thinking of dietary care and exercise, I realise you have always been very active but anything you say will be most appreciated, kind regards Ron Adams

Hello & Welcome :-)

Congratulations coming to a year post op , how has your recovery gone so far ? well I hope :-)

Diet of course is important , eating health , a lot follow the Mediterranean diet on here

Staying active as well and you don't have to be running a Marathon , walking is one of the best exercises daily , going swimming if you enjoy that or even things like bowling if you enjoy it all these things really help getting that heart pumping and stronger :-)

Keeping a check on Blood pressure , keeping up with your med reviews as well as annual blood tests

I know others will come along and see your post and give you many more helpful suggestions :-)

I also hope you will find the Community helpful most of us do :-) x

thanks, doing pretty well, touch wood, had AVR as well. Yes I know what you say, I was looking for something specific from Bigscar as that might be eye opening, hope you are doing well too 😉👍

You should have just clicked reply under his last post and he would have seen it as because you have not put his name in your post he might not realise you are asking him :-)

Maybe ask him on his last post as well so he gets to see it :-) x

I’m one that loves Google. Not everyone does!

I quote from Centre for Disease Control and Prevention. The US agency for Public Health. . ‘the leading risk factors for heart disease and stroke are high blood pressure, high low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol, diabetes, smoking and secondhand smoke exposure, obesity, unhealthy diet, and physical inactivity’.

They leave out genes as we can’t do much about it, I guess!

Hi,

I am also 74 YO male.I had an MI and triple Bypass surgery 32 years ago. I also had 2 stents inserted in my RCA in 2016 after another mild none STEMI .

I am doing well.

I believe the key to our success is exercise, diet and a stress free lifestyle.

I am currently walking approx. 22000K -26000K per day.

My cholesterol is good at 2.6 with a LDL of 0.8.

Things will improve daily as you continue to heal.

Keep up with your Cardiac Rehab.

Hi,

Yes I try to do a total of 22-25000K/day.(10 miles)

That includes my daily walk in the AM (12000K) working in the garden and other chores around the house.

I also push to get in my evening walk before or after supper.

It is challenging but I try very hard.

You can do it as well.

Keep up the good work my friend.
