waiting for diagnosis

hello all - I recently went to hospital because I had low blood pressure and the diuretic tablets had caused this and had acute kidney failure and they said to stop taking these which I did and the hospital gave me fluids to counteract this. However they also while I was there done blood count etc and this gave a reading for BNP of 894 so as this flagged a warning signal to be included for a heart failure test and automatically put me through for an transthoracic echocardiacogram - should I be concerned because at that level it indicates I should be? Xxx

Hello :-)

It is always the worse when we are waiting to get an answer what is wrong how bad is it and until we do it feels like we are in limbo

I would love to say that your reading is not high but to be honest it is and why it has got flagged up

But let's try and turn this into a positive had you not already been in Hospital which I am sorry you were and sorry to hear about your kidney failure which you are already coping with but you may never have had this picked up on and now they have they will do all the tests they need to do and you are in really capable hands :-)

Let us know how you get on :-) x

Absolutely - I would have not known about it if I hadn’t been there otherwise. Thank you for your such positive comment and since I had that reading which I would not have known about and I do have an appointment and in the meantime I have been so proactively trying healthy lifestyle alternatives. It was a bit of a shock but just thankful they did pick up on it and to be honest it wasn’t the only reading that flagged up including iron deficiency which may now lead to bit of breathless but I’m also suffering from a lot of fluid retention in legs which is why I had the diuretic tablets the kidneys didn’t like! I’m positive I’ll be ok and will deal with whatever xxx 😘😀👍

Hello :-)

You sound a very strong person dealing with what you already do and having this attitude towards this information I have no doubt you are going to be just fine :-)

If you have time I would love to know how you get on and we are here if you need to talk :-) x

Hi, just to say my NTproBNP was 1,580 , CKF stage 3b, and with all my medication i must say i dont feel too bad! I am 85 years old and apart from the usual drawbacks of old age i am doing allright! So please try not to worry too much, worrying wont help! Hope this sets your mind at rest a little bit! Very best wishes to you!
