I suppose i have been reasonably lucky with medication. But my issue is that the tablets are bringing my blood pressure down quite well, but i can feel light headed. Is it medication or anxiety? Any way iam trying my medication of lisinopril and spironolactone in the evenings and before bed. I will see if it can get me through the day. Medication is not easy. I feel for you.
Amlodipine can have the side effect of causing swelling in lower limbs. I was warned of this when I was first given it. As I already had swollen feet it didn't make any difference to me! It does make me tired though so I am carefull not to take it same time as beta blocker as that's a double whammy for me.
I see you are on Ramipril as well - which is also for high BP. My husband was prescribed both as well and combination dropped his BP too rapidly and was causing dizzyness so ramipril was taken off. I also get rhinitus which is worse than it was, but I was blaming the bisoprolol. Meds help with one thing and cause more aggro with others!
Hi, yes it made my father in laws legs swell. They can put you on different medication. Ramipril made me cough and gag. I am currently on losartan which is very good. Everyone reacts differently. Hope this helps
Amlodipine gave me swollen legs which made it difficult to exercise, so my GP changed my medication to Losartan which, for me, had no side effects. Before Amlodipine I had been on Ramipril which had given me a cough. It's a case of seeing what suits you. I'm sure your GP will be able to prescribe something that suits you.
I have been on amlodipine for 2 1/2 years and I have suffered with severe lower limb, foot and ankle swelling. Mine got pretty bad before being prescribef compression stockings.
I am however in the midst of waiting for some new medication to be prescribed as a second opinion from another cardiologist said amlodipine was the likely culprit for the swelling. I have coronary artery spasm and most likely microvascular angina so am waiting for a new set of meds thanks to this second opinion.
I am going to have to be a bit trial and error as unfortunately it turns out I have a sensitivity to certain meds.
Good luck and I hope they get you on the right treatment for you soon xx
I can only answer to the amiodipine that yes, it does make my ankles swell although when I questioned my gp about it, she said it was probably due to my age and coronary heart disease. Gee, give up on providing sound medical advice because its probably my age.
