The hospital should deal with the fluid buildup in your Dads lungs .They may use one or two of several available medications. I had Furosemide and Spirolactone which worked well for me. I still take a small dose of each on prescription to keep fluid at bay. I quote from my own experience. We are none of us medics here so you may get various info. about peoples treatment. But do not let the hoispital ignore the fluid . It is importtant to get rid of it as your Dads heart will function better once the fluid goes.
Fluid build-up is one of the results of a heart not working as efficiently as it should. Medication usually clears the fluid.
As many of us often remark, "heart failure" is a dreadful term. It sounds worse than it is, I am sure once the fluid has been reduced, his medics will be able to find the best treatment for his heart problem.
