I'm a 44 year old man and have recently been feeling jumps in my heartbeat around once a minute. It is strange because i only feel this when checkingmy pulse in my neck. A brief ECG at the doc showed nothing but there is definitely something there and is causing a noticeable thump lower down each time.
Anyone had anything similar?

I’m wondering if this could be an Eptopic heartbeat. Everyone experiences them and they are usually harmless. If you have a look on the British Heart Foundation website it gives an explanation. They can sometimes feel as if you are missing a beat. I’m unable to give any explanation for why you only feel this in your neck. Perhaps give the BHF nurses a call and ask if they can advise.
Hey! This sounds like a classic ectopic heart beat to me. They are very common and nothing to worry about. When you feel like you’ve missed a beat is the next heart beat stronger? Ectopics although they can be unpleasant are relatively harmless - you have to have 1000’s a day for them to cause any problems. I noticed mine when I was 25 and the same this happened…I went to the dr, had an ECG and nothing came up. This is because ECGs show a tiny snap shot of your heart beating. If your really concerned you can ask for a 24 hr ECG which will pick up ectopics if you are having them.
Your more likely to experience them when your tired, have been over doing it, a bit hung over and when recovering from exercise. I get them a lot when I’m recovering from going for a run.
