I don’t get any feelings of coldness, but my pulse is low.I take 1 .5 mg bisoprolol.
Yes my legs don’t want to keep up and I will fall forwards.
Yes I feel weakness.
But I don’t associate these issues as being caused by bisoprolol. I do relate these symptoms to having a stroke and then open heart surgery.
I get good sleep, which I worked hard to achieve.
I thought that Clopidogrel was causing me problems, but I changed the drug and after five weeks of this trial, I realized it wasn’t Clopidogrel . Drugs have to titrate into our system for perhaps five weeks, then perhaps five weeks to get out of our system.
Thanks for the information, my husband is almost 88 so he has been lucky in the fact he has had no major heart problems but very mild Angina. Not sure why he was put on bisoprolo as the last tests said he was no worse than 10 years ago. I do think some of the problems he has is due to the tablets but of course some may get reactions and others not.
Don't hesitate to talk to his doctor. I was put on it after my heart attack and it dropped my pulse and BP very low. I could barely get out of the chair I was so tired. GP tried a different tablet then decided I didn't need one at all.
My husband isn’t on the same drug but an equivalent cocktail of the usual heart meds after surgery. He has several issues which I’m convinced are due to the tablets but over the years he has tried to get his GP to look into this but the GP isn’t interested. Tiredness and cold extremities are 2 of his problems. He is 66.
Yes I can relate to the weakness and very low heart rate after taking bisoprolol just days after taking them. Dizziness, lighthearted, feeling like I didn’t have enough strength to go for a walk and sleepy also. Cold hands no. They didn’t agree with me and I had to stop taking them.
Hello. I too was on Bisoprolol -the lowest dose, for 7 years post CABG x2 and experienced those same symptoms ( as did my mother when she was on it). The lethargy built up over time and my legs felt like lead. Also a very low pulse sometimes as low as 38. Last year I saw the cardiologist and he took me off it and I feel like a new woman - so much more energy. Maybe discuss with your cardiologist, as GP’s don’t seem keen to take you off heart meds in my experience once the cardiologist has put you on them. Good luck.😊
I took 1.25mg of Bisoprolol for just a couple of weeks and it made me feel terrible. Dizzy, lightheaded, nauseous, lethargic, just plain horrible. That was the lowest possible dose and only for a short time, but I couldn't tolerate it at all. When I stopped taking it (on my GP's advice) all those symptoms stopped.
Hi. I was on Bisoprolol, and suffered from tiredness in the afternoon and also poor sleep. My cardiologist said it was a side effect. I changed to Sotalol and the tiredness has gone away. Sleep can be a bit hit and miss sometimes. Good luck. BTW, if it helps, I am 61.
Bisoprolol reduces the heart rate by reducing the takeup of adrenaline and the like by the heart That is likely to reduce the BP. The low pulse could well result in less blood available to the extremities (hands, feet etc).
It certainly happens to me. My hands turn blue, and get numb for instance. I'm on 1.25mg OD. My pulse reduced from 80+ to 70+.
I understand they prescribe it to reduce the strain on the heart after an MI. Also I believe to reduce BP. After my heart attack, I was prescribed 2.5mg OD. This made me very lethargic, and I had difficulty exercising
He seems to be doing very well for 88! I've taken bisoprolol for years and it does make me a little lethargic, a sort of dampening down feeling, but I've had to accept this as the trade off for controlling some of my cardiac symptoms, so it's the lesser of two evils for me! I would go back to the GP and check out all his symptoms and also read the bisoprolol info leaflet to see if these symptoms are possible side-effects. Good luck!
Ever since I had my bypass, my legs get so cold and I sit with a blanket. The stiffness for me is statin. I have heard many say they too now get cold legs.
