Has anyone else found that having a catheter inserted for the operation and the four subsequent days in hospital has had a detrimental effect in the willy region??

Dear Khartoum7
Depends on what you mean as detrimental? Any tube placed into the body can of course cause problems, are you talking infection? Bruising? Narrowing of the urethra? Problems with erections? Adverse reactions to the rubber or synthetic tube? Problems weeing All of these worries need to be addressed by your Dr and certainly there is help for all of them.
Strange that you single out us men as many of the problems can accrue with both sexes { except the erections } when using catheters.
If you have a problem get to your Dr sooner than later, there is help.
Take care
That's why I singled out men! Poorish erection...and a noticeable kink of a kink too when erect! Well I suppose I can pee round corners now! 😀
You need to see the Dr for help on both those problems, there is plenty of help, for erection problem, from pumps to pills but the curvature of the penis needs to be addressed sooner than later.
Take care
The kink of more than likely Peyronis disease. Very common in gentlemen of a certain age. I've had it for 5 years now, I think it happened as my partner likes to be on top and there is a certain amount of bending of the offending item. It doesn't cause me any pain but it is definitely less sensitive now. nhs.uk/common-health-questi...
I didn’t have any problem even after my wife trod on it😵💫 how long after have you still got the problem? Damage can be done when inserting and removing a catheter but at the same time you have to remember that little tube is very sensitive and very small to push a bit of pipe down, anything done to your body is traumatic that can cause muscle and nerve problems that just need time to resolve, internally the body heals much slower then say an external cut. If we are talking about sometime ago now then you need to see your gp.
The other thing is you think it was catheter but it may be you heart, new medication or even your mental state.
Well yes maybe time will heal it.....I should be fit and ready to go when I'm 70!! ;))
your wife trod on it?? sorry I'm female and being nosey...
When it says men only I couldn’t resist looking! I’m a very visual person and with your response “ the wife stood on it” had me in stitches, so sorry if you endured a lot of pain, but the images in my head have made me laugh until I cried. So sorry but this has to be best response I’ve seen😂😂😂
Hi. Not had ED issues from when I had a catheter from my CABG but have certainly had problems from my heart issues, high BP and the side effects from meds. Their is a good group on here for this (Errectile Dsyfunction Support) and I would definately chat to your gp. Have always had a good (although sometimes not overly helpful) response from my GPs over the years for ED.
Thanks....I'm getting past it now but would still like to think I'm capable if the opportunity arises!
I have experience of being catheterised, with both short term and long term indwelling catheters, and also self catheterisation. Fortunately that appears to be now a thing of the past. The main problems with catheters are frequent UTIs and damage to the urethra, prostate or bladder neck. If you have are experiencing any problems then you should talk it through with your GP, who should be best placed to identify a cause given the symptoms you present. Finally a quick tinterweb search has revealed something called Peyronie’s disease which may match your description which can be caused by trauma, so another good reason to discuss things with the GP, however unlikely that particular condition may be in your case.
Just looked it up....it said 'more common in males' ???? Hahaha.Gosh...some of the photos are mind-BENDING!! Thankfully I'm not like that! Thanks for the reply!
I was in hospital and was catheterised for almost a week and a half obviously on first removal no sort bladder control for at least a day or so but that is started coming back and a felt relatively normal after that... At the time I was also on a water restriction so I was actually getting out 2L every day or so. Ended up losing about 11 kg or so. I have had issues in ED but sometimes I just do have the energy on the odd occasion... I think thars more life resulted or possibly meds... Solo missions seem more reliable so could also be mental
Wishing you all the very best for good recovery x
No, the catheter was fine but I'm more worried about the adverse effects that all the pills are going to have on it's secondary function
No thought it was awesome not having to get up to go to the toilet. Taking it out was more worrying as I read that sometimes the balloon may not fully be deflated…or if the nurse has a sadistic streak. So I told the bloke taking mine out to make sure that it was fully deflated 😁
I have been there............Left with 'direction' problems.....per missed target...need to pull back Foreskin before you aim .Worst problem is when Copulating outlet of urethra painful at edjection...stage ....Sex life badly impaired...Also Almost permanent Cystitis feeling. I'm not a happy Cha ppie....!!
Nothing to do with Catheters but since my cardiologist added Amolopodine and Dapagliflozine plus increased my Bisoprolol, Ramipril and Atorvastatin, I have noticed the old chap doesn't get as stiff as it used to! I am 70 so I don't know whether its age or the medicine, but it is a little worrying. I did mention it to the cardiologist but he said it shouldnt affect that part of me, but if the tablets are for lowering blood pressure etc I am still not convinced!
