not really about heart but weird sleep patterns 🤔

hello , bit of a strange one but for about a month now I get absolutely exhausted and go to bed around ten , as soon as I hit the bed I’m out in the deepest sleep you could imagine…….15 minutes later I wake up feeling panicked , strange , heart pounding and wide awake. Then it takes hours to go to sleep again

Any ideas out there 🙂🙂

Dear Hazel1010

I think that I and a few others have had that same sleep pattern you described at one time or another.

A lot suffer with it after surgery when that deep sleep moment { lasting for minutes to hours } can seem almost unworldly.

Some get it after a change in medication and in my own case it was both.

After the operation I took sleeping tablets { just a few nights } to get my body back into a sleep pattern.

After the change of meds { statins } again I began to have that crashing out only to awake with a start, after a few nights that went off by itself as my body got used to the change of meds.

I was lucky that my dreams were amazing, vivid and bright. Unlike normal dreams, I can still remember and recall them.

My heart nurse asked me at what time I took my last drink of the day and she was surprised when I said around five pm as being on water tablets I didn’t want to be up in the night.

She said that dehydration can cause short sharp vivid dream, so reluctantly I had a glass of water just before bed. Yes I have to get up during the night, but the dreams are gone and so is my fuzzy “morning head”.

It could be worth your while having a chat with you Dr, because it is important { as you already know } to get a good nights sleep.

Hope any of the above is some help.

Take care

That’s interesting that dehydration can cause bad dreams. I’ve been having them since I’ve been on Clopidogrel. I took Clopidogrel 5 years ago and had terrible nightmares. This time they seem not so frequent or as bad. I’m terrible for not drinking enough water so maybe that will help.
