hi

After a period of time struggling with breathlessness on exertion fatigue swollen feet and worsening asthma ( inc wheeze and cough) and some brief pain when breathlessness is bad if I don’t rest.. my GP ran a raft of tests. CT and X-ray suggested cardiomegaly. Heart scan shows mild diastolic impairment but could not assess EF as couldn’t get visual .

Is this likely to lead to another scan? Should I request one? I’m due to see my GP later this week snd will discuss further but have been wondering ?

You should get an echoscan to check your EF. If there is a problem, new treatments can help in many cases. I went from enlarged heart and EF 20% to being discharged recently. Follow advice and take meds is the best I can suggest, not knowing your case history obviously.

Thank you for that. It was an echo scan I had . They discovered the diastolic impairment but said they could not assess EF as ‘not all walls were visible’ . I think I might request a repeat scan . Thanks

My "asthma" that was diagnosed (?) in 1998 actually turned out to be bronchiectasis, and my frequent chest infections are now in the past, due to correct treatment. Good luck with your heart.
