You should ask the heath professional who has advised you to stop taking your medication.
Hello
I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your Husband
Well done changing your lifestyle and it looks like it has helped as you now can come of Bisoprolol
Bisoprolol does help to keep your blood pressure stable and your heart so when you come of it you can sometimes feel side effects they vary from one person to another
Usually your Doctor would suggest slowly tapering of them to avoid this
I would contact them and ask if they feel it would be better to taper of them and if so can they give you a plan as you would like to avoid any possible side effects you can
I hope you keep well and let us know how you get on x
Dear Caligrapher
So sorry to hear of the death of your husband and how it affected your heart, this is something that we hear of on this from time to time and is proof {to me and others } of the power of grief.
You seem to know your body and I can only praise you for changing your life style to rid yourself of your high blood pressure and cholesterol problems.
If the advise is for you to stop the Bisoprolol then by all means follow it but it must only be under the advice of your medical team.
Well done with all you are doing, you are a great inspiration to us all, thank you.
Hi, Sorry to hear about your loss, it’s very sad for you
I have just come off Bisoprolol, I’m 69 and it was prescribed for PSTD ( post traumatic stress syndrome) after a medical shock. I’ve been on it for about 12 months. Please as other have said it is very important to take medical advice on exactly how to reduce it slowly for you personally, depends on your conditions, dose, other medication etc. Bisoprolol reduces BP & HR slightly and
I am amazed you have managed to exercise whilst taking it as it made my muscles so weak and I was breathless too.
I am taking another BP lowering tablet too. I was advised to reduce my dose of Bisoprolol for one week, then come off completely. I felt this was a bit fast as it induced anxiety for a few days and my heart appeared to be thumping loudly at night and HR rose by 15bpm, but this is still within normal limits, it is a bit scary tho’ I did lots of calming breaths. After 1 week without Bisoprolol all withdrawal symptoms have gone.
I can honestly say being on Bisoprolol served a purpose of keeping me calm and stabilising HR but it ruined my life, I couldn’t walk up the stairs without struggling, couldn’t do heavy cleaning, couldn’t stand long to cook, had to stop every 100 yards or so when walking, ruined my social life.
I was generally fit before all this started.
After just these 2 weeks I’m a different person, my energy has returned.
I now have slightly raised BP which I’m talking to my doctor about this week.
Wishing you well.
