discovered my elevated LPa after my heart bypass- luckily got referred for a genetic test as in uk the test is not available routinely. Good luck with the trial- important work 🤞

I, too, have raised Lp(a), it showed up on a full lipid panel done by a hospital lipid clinic.

GPs don’t seem to be aware of it -or not the ones I’ve spoken to.

How did you get involved in the clinical trials ?

Hello ! After a phone consultation following a HA I was advised to tell my adult children to get tested to check their levels as this can be hereditary. As it turns out two of them have slightly raised levels and two did not. I don't know if you have family but getting a blood test could be a life saver and early indicator so people can adjust lifestyles if necessary. Like you I found my GP /practice nurse was not aware of this test ! .good luck ,stay well 🙂

Thanks for sharing this. I pushed for full genetic and lipid screening after CABg x 2 aged 52 and yes indeed my Lp (a) is also elevated. At my checkup post op my surgeon thanked me for being on the case and says he will now routinely ask for this test for cases like mine. I’ve now got all other risk factors under control. It was devastating to find out I have a risk factor I can’t do anything about initially but now I’m glad I know as it’s good motivation to do everything else and also make the most of every day. But really I’m holding out for new treatments as well as putting myself on a database for the next round of clinical trials. Good luck and thank you for doing the trail. Many Thousands of us are depending on it!

My lipid clinic wrote to my gp to prescribe Inclisiran (Novartis) injections for high cholesterol and LP a . But gp either unwilling or unable to . I think the BMA has advised gps not to prescribe as its a "black triangle" drug (needs supervision). Not sure what to do as im keen on trying it and avoid another HA.
