Hi all, I had a stent fitted yesterday and the pharmacy discharge letter says that my monomil has now been discontinued.
Is this normal? Will it do any harm if I continue to take it until I get clarification from the cardiologist?
Cheers.

Monomil is isosorbide mononitrate which is used to prevent angina. Maybe they think you shouldn't need it after the stent. I was put on it after a heart attack and two stents but it was stopped fairly soon because I had no signs of angina. I'm not medically trained so I would be asking my GP just to see if it's safe until you speak to the cardiologist. Also have a look at the patient info to see if you have any condition that makes it ill advised. patient.info/medicine/isoso...
I was on it for 8 years when diagnosed with angina.Following an angioplasty last year I was taken off it, I seem to remember the specialist telling me that the Ramipril he'd prescribed for me had the same function but with "added benefits".
