It's finally happening...........next week!

My son has been waiting for an aortic valve repair or replacement for over 2 years. It was delayed because he was involved in a serious accident not long after he was diagnosed. He saw the consultant in january and was told he was now fit enough to have the operation, and he'd be on the march surgery list. March came and went, and he didn't hear anything. He rang up a few weeks ago and was told the usual story, covid, backlog, etc, so he left it at that. On tuesday he had a phone call asking him to come in for a pre op assessment on thursday as he was near the top of the surgeon's list, but they couldn't give him a definite date yet. He went for the assessment, and got a phone call not long after he got home asking him to go into hospital on monday, for the operation on tuesday! It came as a bit of a shock. He's waited so long, then suddenly, it's happening in less than a week. At least he hasn't got much time to think about it, not that he seems worried. I won't say I'm worried, as I know he'll be in good hands, but I am very nervous. I was due a heart check up next week myself, but I've rescheduled it. I think I might be a little stressed.
