I recently found out one of my bypass grafts didn't take (skeletonised RIMA to OM) and I have to undergo a cardiac MRI with perfusion test. I'm unfamiliar with this test, can anyone who has had it tell me what it entails and what it tells you?
Also, is it OK to have an MRI scan after having a bypass and having metal sternal wires in your chest?
I cannot answer your questions but wanted to say I am sorry your Bypasses did not work and you have to go through more but you know you will be in good hands and they will give you the best treatment to get things back on track again
The MRI scan I would think would be ok but if you are having one just check with them before
Let us know how you get on x

Hi. Thank you for your kind message. I called them to ask and they thanked me and said they would check. Thankfully it's not the major bypass that I had that failed so hopefully things will be OK but it does feel like it never ends some days.x

Hello
I understand that feeling since my Bypass op it may not be to do with my heart but physically it feels like one thing after another keeps going wrong it can start to get you down it is me but it will all come good x
What a nightmare, again I can't answer your question BUT I am sure they wouldn't do the MRI if there was a problem. It doesn't effect the alarms at the airport which is something I was concerned about after mine!
Hi Judge_Dredd. Sorry to hear about your failed graft. I had a quad bypass and have since had an MRI with perfusion test. It’s not a problem with the chest wires and the whole thing is really not that bad. It is just a weird sensation when they inject the fluid. I just felt a bit flushed but no difficulty or pain. Hope it goes well for you.
Thanks pops, that's great to know! I called them to check but it's good to know its not an issue. Yeah, the flushing part is very odd, I had it when I had a cardio CT scan, very strange feeling! I hope your scan said everything was OK.
Thanks shopman, I would like it if the cardiologiat was present as I want to ask a few questions that occurred to me after he told me my bypass graft had failed. Was a bit shocked when he first told me so, as usual, the questions didn't come into my head until after the appointment.
