Hi my friend, Heart is the only organ in body which can be described as a pump working working 24/7. On average adult it beats or pumps out oxygenated blood 72 times per minute. The bulk of the pump action fals on the left ventricle to a biggest artery in the body called the aorta. It is guarded by one way semilunar shaped valves. If the valves are diseased or the aorta is narrowed by some disease, it causes obstruction in outflow of blood and that is called left ventricular failure. Sorry if I have not been clear on this subject.
