Good to know.Thought he would have been referred to heart specialist not treated by GP.
Hello,
My husband has had atrial fibrillation since his early 50's , his brother from his 20's.
Both have been prescribed beta blockers and a direct oral anti coagulant DOAC .
They were referred to a Cardiologist and the Anticogulation clinic at first as they both have coronary artery disease as well.
I found my husband's AF when I did his pulse when he was looking unwell. He was in AF!
This was later confirmed by an ECG at the GPs surgery.
The good news is that yours has been found and you are receiving the correct treatment.
There is a support group for people living with heart rhythm problems, the Arrthymia Alliance.
Perhaps also give the BHF helpline a call and speak to one of the cardiac nurses for more information.
My A fib was found after having a nasty episode of waking up with my heart racing, was put on anti coagulants and BP meds by my GP after a day in hospital, had a holter monitor and echocardiogram after a ten month waiting list, no other problems found but after another trip to A and E with racing heart, the GP prescribed beta blockers as well . Cardiology haven't wanted to see me again so just under the care of the GP
