Can bisoprolol cause angina like symptoms

I'm so frustrated. I'm convinced that since taking bisoprolol I can't walk uphill without tightness down my arms. My gp is treating me for angina. I'm have to have a ct scan to rule out this. Iv never suffered with this before taking these tablets. Anyone else had symptoms like this whilst taking bisoprolol?

Yes, beta blockers are contraindicated if you have vasospastic angina.

This type of angina is much less common and is often overlooked.

I was prescribed beta blockers before my diagnosis was confirmed and I ended up hospital.

Beta blockers reduce cardiac output so you’re more likely to get out of breath or tired.

I was prescribed nebivolol which is a beta blocker and took it for years after having stents.I continued to get symptoms of angina

My cardiologist then suggested replacing the beta blocker with a calcium channel blocker and I noticed an improvement the angina symptoms of chest tightness breathlessness and extreme tiredness disappeared for a while. Although they have returned recently but are much less severe than previously and much less often.

I believe that I have a type of angina vasospastic angina and the beta blocker made the vasospasms worse rather than better.

It is difficult though not many doctors will have knowledge of this condition.

Beta blockers like bisoprolol reduce your heart rate and may lower your blood pressure. If you have an unusual form of angina as milkfairy points out, they won't help and might make it worse.

The problem is diagnosing either microvascular or vasospastic angina. As far as I can see, it's not a GP problem, and not all cardiologists are capable of doing so
