30 months past a heart bypass and 6 months past a pacemaker and in last month been waking up with swollen left hand and wrist. I do sleep on my left side and wear a watch. The swelling goes down during the day but is not usually gone before midnight. No swelling of ankles since about six months after bypass - any ideas or is it just one of those things?

Dear Kelling
Sorry to hear about the swollen wrist, but my obvious answer is to try sleeping on the other side.
I have a watch on 24/7 and can wake up with swollen fingers on that hand.
The only thing that makes me think that you should contact your Dr about this { and remember I am not medically trained } is the fact that you stated how long it takes for the swollen area to go down.
Mine is normally gone by the time I’ve got up and had my first coffee.
Interesting post but I think the clues are there…..
The watch and the side you sleep on……/
Take care and please keep us all informed
Hello
I would really leave you watch of your wrist at night for a week and see if it makes a difference
It could be digging in you and stopping your circulation why you wake up with it swollen and it takes so long to go back down
If this does not work then talk to your Doctor but give it a go and will be interesting if when you have you will come back and let us know if this solved it or if not what your Doctor thinks it is x
Hi Kelling, I hope you are feeling better. May I just check that you do not have any cuts or abrasions on your hand please. I guess if this were the case it would be swollen and inflamed during the day too, but just in case. Take care, and with all the good advice on the forum, if it doesn’t clear up speak to the doc. Take care, Judi
I love that song - especially when played on that London roof top! Thanks for the info - all advice begins tonight, with wrist watch off - oh by the way, no injuries, although using both hands a bit more at the moment as we are packing etc towards moving house in February
