Hi ,been taken off aspirin because of my hiatus hernia pain in chest 3 weeks ago, chest pain gone now, but gp has now prescribed clopidogrel is that as bad as aspirin for indigestion. And will I have to increase my 20mg of rabeprazole because of clopidogrel to 40mgs, don't like taking too much ppis because they stop you from absorbing nutrients especially when you are trying to eat healthier, any help please.

I suggest you speak to your GP who prescribed the clopidogrel.Alternatively speak to your Pharmacist.

Just been prescribed clopidogrel today because aspirin was not good for hiatus hernia, will try clopidogrel in the morning after breakfast, I used to take aspirin at night with rabeprazole but still struggled.

I've been on clopidogrel and aspirin since I had four stent's three years ago and not had any problems so far.

I'm a little surprised that you are having to increase your PPI to cater for Clopidogrel. I would have thought it would have been kinder to your stomach than aspirin, but maybe not. Thankfully I have had no trouble with either aspirin or Clopidogrel, but I have had major problems with PPIs and have to use Gaviscon Advance instead on the exceptionally rare occasion that I have an issue.

Thanks, like I have said heart meds are not good for hiatus hernia because of side effects indigestion, when I receive the clopidogrel I will try taking after breakfast, I have also got prostate cancer finished treatment 2016 its hard work ,the reason I have got cardio problems is because I have no testosterone, oncologist said I would have problems further down the line.

Sorry to hear about the ongoing issues wit the aftermath of protate cancer. I have a friend facing that at the moment.

Taking medication with / after breakfast is an excellent idea. I take mine with my cereal, which is followed by the soluble aspirin and then a cup of tea. All done and dusted and I get on with my day. There is something to be said for getting it out of the way. When I had medication that had to be taken at bedtime, I always found it a chore.
