Atrial fibrillation dad had a stroke

As title Christmas day just after his dinner my dad had a stroke phoned ambulance and they said it would be 40 minutes so me and my brother managed to get him in car and get him to hospital he was in atrial fibrillation it had caused a blood clot and gone to his brain after the ct scan he had the clot busting drugs and has had several tests on the stroke ward he has had these turns before but non was ever caught I've also had similar over the years

If you had some TIA or mini strokes would you not be better getting advice on whether you should be permanently on an antiplatelet med like Clopidegrel. No harm venting your concern to a health professional.

Hi thanks for reply I've already spoke my doctor the last time I spoke to him he said could be atrial fibrillation nothing was done no medication change I'm on bisoprolol 2.5mg

Get a second opinion preferably a cardiologist, Afib needs to be treated properly.

So sorry to read your post, 5 weeks after my open heart surgery my husband had a huge stroke, he to had the thrombosis drug and thankfully it did it’s job, and no further clots were found, but the stroke as left him disabled. As for yourself as already been said you must get the right drugs please speak to your GP and get the right help.

I really hope your Dad gets through this without to many lasting issues.

Thank you so much I'm trying to get into doctors tomorrow feel as though ignored me upto now as though I was imaging it I've seen my dad loads of times dizzy and feeling sick dizzy from in his 30s all the docs told him was vertigo and other times anxiety until they caught it made me so mad

I took him back to hospital this morning at 530 am he rang me said he felt unwell, palpitations got to hospital 150 pulse fast atrial fibrillation He's still in hospital gave him higher dose of bisoprolol said he might be home tonight or tomorrow Is this all that's ever done for A fib ?
