I’m just shy of 74 and 10 months on recovering from a STEMI ‘widow maker’ and four LAD stents. A recent echocardiogram and MRI confirmed a LV mural thrombus, which added to the joy, hopefully now being controlled/zapped by a change to a couple of my seven daily medications. Just lately, during the night, I get pins and needles mainly in my right arm and hand. Moving around and shaking my arm normally does the trick. I’m reluctant to contact (that’s a joke) my GP as I tend to normalise things to get on with my day-to-day life. I just like to imagine that it’s caused by my various medications, moderate LV impairment, and nothing more sinister. I guess I’m not the first to ask if anyone else has pins and needles – and should I be more concerned? I’m not getting the exercise I really need at the moment as I have a bilateral inguinal hernia that can’t be operated on until 3rd March, 10 days after I finish the Clopidogrel anti-platelet medication. Such fun. Have a very merry Christmas.

Dear Entabeni
You have had { like many } a journey and a half.
You need to get in touch with your GP/heart team/111 etc over your concerns about the pins and needles you are suffering with.
I for one think { I’m not trained in this field } that your trapping a nerve some how as you can shake out the feelings, which tends to happen once the blood is maintained to that area.
If it was drug related I personally don’t think that it would disappear by shaking out the area.
I hope you get answers soon
Take care

Thank you 👍
Not everything is caused by medications or your original heallh problems. If it's only one arm it sounds like a trapped nerve. If I sleep in one position I get the same. Try altering your pillows or your sleeping position and if that doesn't help, see your GP.
Hello Entabeni
I get this too may well be down to meds my GP didn’t seem to concerned but sent me for blood a test for diabetes which came back fine, maybe worth a mention though. I’ve noticed a few older posts on here just search for pins and needles and they should pop up.
Hope that helps. Have a fabulous Christmas 🎄
Hi, I wouldn't have a clue about your pins and needles but I do want to thank you for your post.
Like you, I'm someone who constantly tries to rationalise my illness. It drives my wife and consultant bonkers. At least I know now it's not just me!
Keep up with the good work 😊

Thanks, made me chuckle. It’s good to know we’re not alone. Merry Christmas.
