I have been told by my GP pharmacist that they are replacing Ezomeprazole to Lanzaprazole due to new studies because I am taking Clopidogrel, has anyone been advised accordingly? Thanks

Yes! I was changed from Omeprazole to Lansoprazole over a year ago as it was shown that Omeprazole reduces the effectiveness of Clopidogrel more than Lansoprazole does. Changed and noticed no difference between the two.

It was a new one on me I like to think (imagine) I have my finger on the pulse. Showed me my consultant does. 🤣

They swapped me to Lanzoprazole but then back again because I started to get heartburn again. The clopidogrel must still be working because I still bruise easily.

Hubby was on omeprazole and clopidogrel years ago as he didn’t tolerate Asprin. I picked up that that new studies had shown that omeprazole reduces the effectiveness of clopidogrel and the clopidogrel was stopped in favour of aspirin.Three years ago he was just taking Edoxaban and was swapped onto Esomeprazole.

He had a NSTEMI recently and is back on clopidogrel (along with Apixaban) but still taking esomeprazole, maybe it’s ok with another anticoagulant in the mix?

Take care.

Hi. I was put on clopidogrel and aspirin and lansoprazole after STEMI one year ago. I didn’t have issues although they stopped lansoprazole at one point for some reason (cardiologist did this but can’t remember why). However, I was put back on lansoprazole again a few months ago - again no issues. From this week no need to take clopidogrel anymore 🤪👍.

HiI live in France and about 4 months go they changed my medication from Omeprazole to Pantoprazole 40mg after an endoscope found a couple of small ulcers. All is well now. I have unstable angina and multiple stents. Clopidogrel was stopped some 6 months after my last stent in 2020.

Hi was have been on aspirin and clopidogrel for almost three years now and a while ago can't remember when I was proscribed lansoprazole as a precaution but I could not take it because it gave me diarrhea.

About 7 weeks ago I was in hospital with angina pain, I was already on Clopidogrel and because the A & E Dr felt it was indigestion pain not heart related (wrong) she prescribed Omeprazole. It took 2 days for me to get to a ward and the morning I was on a ward a Pharmacist came to see me and took me off the Omeprazole as she said it reduced the effects of Clopidogrel and gave me lansoprazole instead. Quite ironic in that a couple of days later I was taken off Clopidogrel anyway.
