Diltiazem and pvcs

I've been given 90mg diltiazem to take 2x a day for my pvcs. I've tried beta blockers (propranolol and bisoprolol) but didn't get on with these as they lowered my heart rate down to low 40s and I felt rubbish. My heart rate is usually between 54 and 68bpm. Does any one else take this for pvcs? What has been your experience on them? Do they lower the heart rate? Is 180mg a day a high dose? I'm still quite new to pvcs and my Dr's aren't good at sharing information!

I'm really sorry that I cannot directly answer your question, but I would like to offer a comment on Diltiazem. I was prescribed this medication (60mg before going to bed) to control arterial spasms after my bypass surgery. I am hypersensitive to drugs and my GP regards me as being a nightmare to medicate. However, while I was apprehensive about taking this medication, I had no issues with Diltiazem during the period that I took it.

I hope others can provide you with greater assurance.

Hi, not sure if you’re still active on here but my DR is currently changing me from Bisoprolol to diltiazem. He doesn’t want me to wean off Bisoprolol just to start the diatiazem at my next dose instead of the biso. Is this how you changed meds? Everything I’m reading says this is risky and I’m very nervous even though I’m really looking forward to getting off the beta blocker as it makes me exhausted.
