What medication are you taking?
Hello and welcome to the forum!
You really need to say what medication you are on. I suffered quite bad oedema with Amlodipine (a CCI - Calcium Channel Inhibitor) but not Diltiazem (another CCI). Beta blockers can cause tiredness initially that can cause slight weight gain if exercise is subsequently reduced. You need to talk to your GP about your issues. It sounds like you have fluid retention that needs addressing.
sorry , ok so am on indapamide , been on 2 other previous, i know 1 was amalodapine , i can only assume are same family
Indapamide is a thiazide-like diuretic drug generally used in the treatment of hypertension. So things do not sound right. I suggest that you contact your GP in Monday or in case of difficulty 111. Good luck.
I don't know anything bout this medication but had a quick look at the NHS site & it says it's a diuretic. I wouldn't expect a diuretic med to cause weight gain or fluid retention. I would expect it to relieve fluid retention & in doing so it would normally cause weight loss.I would definitely be speaking to your cardiologist/GP about your symptoms or maybe give 111 a call for advice.
Good luck, let us know how you get on
Not with Ramipril but was put on Amlodipine years ago that caused water retention. When I was diagnosed with PAF in September the AF nurse took that off me. Within in a couple of weeks the swelling in my lower legs had gone right down. They always take Amlodipine off AF sufferers as it does more harm than good. Still take Ramipril.
Speak to your GP or whoever put you on it. You will probably be given a different one. Hope that helps.
I’ve gained about 3 stone since my ohs to replace my mitral valve and I always feel so bloated. I’m on a cocktail of medication due to chronic back pain too. Also type 2 diabetic. I had my surgery in June this year and it’s been a massive struggle mentally as well as physically x
is what i've gained , and exactly how i feel , my arms and legs feel so tight a lot of the time i'm so upset
