So I recently had a dilemma where a job I was just weeks into I decided to leave. Now same issue been offered a job but when I saw the work load I realised this could be same issue... too stressful.... they want answer today... so I’m probably going to say it’s not for me. And there may be another opportunity in a few weeks. What would you do?
I had a HA in 2019 and a stent..

Hi. I am currently working the last two weeks of my notice from a job I have quit due to stress. I have had poor health the last two years due to several issues most recent of which was crippingly painful sciatica which took the last of my strength and I ended up on leave for sciatica and stress.
Its a very difficult dicision to leave a job with none to go to but my personal opinion is that your health must come first. If you can afford to do so I would advise you wait for a job you're going to feel more comfortable with.
Depending on your employer, I'd not say anything until you decide the time is right for you to move on. In my experience the less an employer knows about your future intentions, the safer for you. Can you cope with the stress better if you have set a three month limit there for yourself rather than share it with them? I wish you luck. In my sector ( education) stress comes with the job and I have had to drop my hours considerable since OHS. Wishing you luck in your next post.
Not knowing your situation but No Money coming In could lead to a lot more stress than going to work !
It's your choice not very helpful I know but it's your decision We are all different but I worked for a further 22 years after having a Heart Attack, and those 22 years allowed me to top up my Pension Pot to make the remaining years Comfortable . So afraid no easy decision here.
After I left University I took up a job and had a very enjoyable 6 years with the firm. One day I had a casual discussion with one of my bosses. He told me to ensure that I was happy in my job as I would be spending a large proportion of my waking hours doing work. I can't remember the exact figure he quoted, but it was in the order of 60 - 70%. I have always remembered what he said and changed jobs when I have felt it appropriate, rejecting job offers where I felt that the job was not for me and eventually becoming self-employed when the time was right. Basically if it doesn't feel right, then don't do it.
I hope that you find the right job for you very soon.
Hi - I don’t know all your situation , but my first cardiac consultants first question to me was is your job stressful - and then he says stress is not your friend . I’m waiting for OHS so have stopped my very stressful job and I won’t be going back . This is the end of my working life it’s a stress free world from now - my health and my family are the paramount thing - goodbye stress old friend -our relationship is over !! !! Good luck ❤️❤️🩹❤️
My ha was in April this year 2 stents , EF 40% . I’m a chef by trade and as you can imagine totally stressful environment. I’m 53 and female . I can’t go back to that I know it myself and it breaks my heart ( pun) I am very lucky that I have a husband who supports me and takes care of all the bills and I have recently applied for pip although I haven’t heard back about that yet. I think you should take time out and have some time for yourself, find a hobby that maybe you could make money from in the meantime. Try not to stress too much . As long as you have food , water and a roof over your head . You are doing ok
Yah your right... I’ve taken up art in the last 2 yrs to destress... and after an abusive manager in last job I don’t want anything similar... your right life’s for living.. I’ll find something..thx for your words and hopefully things will work out for you
I'm struggling with the same issues. I'd like to find a higher-paying job -- it's certainly possible without too much effort -- but I would have to work longer hours and be "on call" much of the time. I already know that stress has not improved my cardiac situation (or, more precisely, how I feel), so I'm staying put for now.
It's a bit of a gamble but if there's anything that having SCA/HA while youngish and healthy has taught me it's that nothing is certain. If I took a higher-paying but more stressful job so I could retire with more money etc, would I even make it to retirement? What would having lots of money for retirement matter if I died at age 60? The unfortunate answer is "not one single whit."
This is a tricky one. You obviously have a good skill set that is in demand. While the induction of any new job is a bit of an emotional rollercoaster, if the actual job that you will ultimately be doing fits your skills and comes easy to you, then any stress will hopefully be positive stress and motivating and may help with your health . I always feel if we have a skill set to deploy in the economy, we should not deny the world our talent. But I suppose I would say that as I work in HR. Good luck with your decision.
The job on offer is constant no let up..hence stress... and I know that after my HA 3 yrs ago... and the way my former boss treated me I don’t want a similar scenario... there are 3opportunities one in 2 months and one if I take it this week may be the one that stresses me... think illl give this one a miss... even the ITmanager of its sister company warned me off .. he said it’s quite intense..and he doesn’t even know me
It's horrible to be in this situation. I wish I could retire but can't. Esa is poor. Pips is proving to be a nightmare to get. I understand totally how you feel.
