My health centre is suggesting that I start taking EZETIMBE.

What are other users experiences with this medication?

I take this medication along side Atorvastatin (40mg). I have had no side effects and my cholesterol profiles have improved quite dramatically.

I’ve been using it for a few months after statins disagreed with my liver. Cholesterol is slowly coming down and have had no side effects (or at least none that I’ve noticed).

Hi herbit. Have been on Ezetimibe since March this year after atorvastatin played havoc with my liver. No side effects as far as I know, but my recent cholesterol tests show a rise again so am about to start Colesevelam as well.

I'm taking ezetimibe because atorvastatin at 20mg, then 40mg, then 80mg didn't lower my cholesterol sufficiently. So I'm now on 40mg atorvastatin + 10mg ezetimibe. You should read the patient information leaflet for possible side effects. I had some intestinal bloating and gas (both known side effects) which settled after a while and now everything is fine and my cholesterol levels are good. My GP requested a liver function test after a few weeks on ezetimibe to check that my liver was OK - and it was.

I was switched over to this from Atorvastatin back in March 2021. In April-May started experiencing mild dizziness spells. 5-10 seconds each, about once a week. Advised Primary care dr. A battery of tests ensued (bloodwork, EKG, eye exam, dental exam, neuro exam, today an mri) to no avail yet. I was and am not satisfied with results and pursuit so I documented my own trials and dates. Realizing spells started weeks after commencing the switch in meds. I stopped taking the Ezemitibe on 8/27/2021. I'm not a medication fan nor a self diagnosing quack but needed to help myself at this point. Driving became an issue, walking in public became an issue. A very helpless and scary time for an otherwise healthy person.

Since the date of stoppage, I have only experienced one episode within a week of stopping. And it was mild and about 30% of the normal episodes I was experiencing. Since the first of Sept, nothing! Not even an inkling of an episode.

I'm scheduled for a MRI today. I'm only going to confirm that it is nothing else. At this point I'm referring it back to my Primary that I will not be continuing the Ezemitibe and ask for an alternative or handle my number by diet and exercise as I've done in the past.

Please note that my number at the onset of treatment in 2014 was well over 200! With diet, exercise, taking supplements and not smoking it came down to under 200. Hope this helps someone.

Hello Herbit. Just to say I was prescribed ezetimibe alongside atorvastatin earlier this year as my cholesterol was soaring, but got crippling lower back pain which I put down to the mattress on the bed! However, I wondered about side effects of the drugs as I'm sensitive like that, so stopped the ezetimibe and the back pain went away. Doc wants me to try again but not take it with the statin at the same time but I haven't dared try it again. Cholesterol test due again soon so I'll wait and see how the atorvastatin is doing on its own.
