Has anyone being diagnosed with costochondritis after having pericarditis and/or an effusion ? I’ve been having increasing pain by my left ribs the last few months ,it starts off fairly mild but as soon as I’m moving around throughout the day the pain gets worse , it’s now sometimes so painful at night if I roll on my side.

Hi - I have suffered from this very painful complaint many times - it did not result from any cardiac problem originally but was diagnosed as a symptom of fibromyalgia which I have suffered from for nearly 40 years. Hope it settled down for you soon

I have costochondritis frequently but as part of fibromyalgia , nothing to do with my heart. Although initially it can feel very much like heart problems it's quite easy to tell apart. Basically if you press where your ribs are attached to your sternum and it hurts then it's costochondritis. I find that an anti inflammatory gel like feldene helps. IT is an inflammatory condition.
