My Mum had a heart attack last summer and had a stent fitted. She was released from hospital on a Saturday afternoon with little information and has had no input from the hospital since... is this normal?
I thought she would have had a follow up or at least a consultation on how to improve her lifestyle ECT. I wondered if it was with covid. What other people's experiences being?
I don’t know about normal, but that doesn’t sound right. She should have had at least one follow-up appointment. She should have had a discharge letter which should have also been sent to the GP. She (or you on her behalf) needs to contact her GP to let them know that she hasn’t had any follow-up check. She would have been under a consultant. Contact PALS at the hospital if you can’t find the name of who she was under - they will chase for you.
It doesn’t sound right. I had a hospital check up after 5 months and I was then signed off, thankfully. It all varies with each patient.I’m hoping she was given a Cardiac Nurse to contact when she got home? I was told I could contact them anytime even after rehabilitation. I suggest you contact them and also your gp to express your concerns. All the best.

I went for ct angiogram as stent was going to be fitted due to LAD end of 2019 during scan they found a large mass which was operated on within a month. It turned out to be a stage 2 malignant thymoma. Was supposed to have close surveylance and ct scans every six months nothing due to covid. In the end after 18 months I rang surgeons secretary and managed to get ct sorted which took another two months but still only had telephone consult with scan results. Our hospital unfortunately was overrun with covid patients and was doing little else
Hi there, it doesnt sound right at all. I had a HA 6 weeks ago and two stents fitted 5 weeks ago. I was given a wad of information when I left the hospital. I had to have a blood test at my GPs two weeks after the angioplasty to check my renal function due to the drug regime I'm on. The day after my discharge a cardio nurse phoned me for a quick chat and a week later she contacted me for a very long chat, we were on the phone for over 45 minutes discussing my medicines, diet, exercise, rehabilitation, my emotions.....it was very useful. She contacted me again last week to see how I was doing and to inform me that I'll be hearing very shortly about my rehabilitation program. I received a letter last week about an appointment with a cardiologist in early October. From my point of view in our neck of the woods, East Yorkshire, I have received excelent "joined up" service from the NHS......it sounds like your Mum has "slipped out of the net', I'd be making some phone calls on her behalf if I was you.
