AF or HC?

I have been being treated for Af for 10 years now. Had surgery and never came out of AF.

I had an echo in November after heart surgery resulting in Cardio tamponade and the clinician said I had Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy but i have never been treated for this by cardiologist. Can they be treating me for only the symptoms and not the cause? Could i be in danger. Feeling confused and scared.

Hi, you need to see a cardiologist as soon as possible. A cardiac MRI is the best course of action. That's what saved me after so many years of medical rigmaroles. I have dilated Cardiomyopathy that was only diagnosed this year, after 7 years of painful palpitations. You need to see a cardiologist who will, with the help of a cardiac MRI, evaluate the entire structure of your heart and proceed appropriately. No cause for alarm. Stay safe, stay positive. Take care.

Hi Chibuzo, thank you for your reply. Im having an Echo tomorrow which I've booked privately. I will once again try to get onto my consultant when I get the results. Are you ok now? What did they do for you?

regards

Hi, hope you are doing ok. After my cardiac MRI in February,I was placed on Bisoprolol 2.5mg for the first few weeks but it wasn't that effective. The cardiologist now prescribed Carvedilol 3.125mg and Lisinopril 10mg(both once daily). I have been on those for almost 3 months now and I am feeling a whole lot better. It's going to take a while but I will surely get there. Get the Echo and see the doctor. If he isn't satisfied,he will request more tests, probably an MRI. One step at a time. Take care.
