Hello this is my first posting. Having had a recent coronary angiogram following recent bouts of angina and shortness of breath,my cardiologist could find no evidence of coronary heart disease but his best guess!! Was mvad. I have poor left ventricle profusion and have a on demand pacemaker and I am in permanent a/f. I read some users have similar conditions but it was what came after which touched a raw nerve. I have put on a lot of weight since covid and it’s not over eating but complete lack of exercise. The cardiologist both verbally and in his report said he could not do anything further until I had lost weight. I am struggling to find detail info on this condition or access and support, I live on my own which concerns me, any advice or signpost to info would be helpful please. I have acknowledged I need to lose weight but exercise is difficult given the onset of chest pain

Thank you jo, not concerned about a/f already had two when I had svt, not sure about your response to weight loss mind! I know I have to loose weight but my diet and portion sizes are pretty good. Even on a restricted calorie diet you still need to burn calories through exercise. It’s the fact it was a professional guess which I respect but he doesn’t intend to confirm or look for other causes, apart from a referral to a respiratory consultant he won’t take any further test etc. I do know this condition is hard to diagnose as very little is known but attitudes are everything in my book this can go a long way
I've been tentatively diagnosed with MVA after investigations showed crystal clear coronaries (tests included standard angiogram and simultaneous right-heart study) to explain my angina on exertion (or when heat and humidity exceed 70F and 50% - most MVA patients have trouble in cold, I just have to be contrary ).
I also have a few other heart conditions, all well controlled with meds and lifestyle adjustments including losing the extra weight I lug around.
The trouble is chest pain/angina attacks hit when I first tried to exercise - btw, walking is my exercise of choice but I also like to do some living room workouts when I come in from the walks with light free weights, resistance bands, and dancing with Colleen Nolan's 1980s and 90s workout DVDs.
No worries, tips to the rescue! Before I get started on the walk, I take a 2-pump spritz of the GTN spray (mine is NitroLingual400) and five minutes doing very very very gently stretches to warm-up.
Since I started the pre-walk spritz and the full five minute warm-up, no more chest pain/angina attacks. I also do a quick hit of the GTN when going into the supermarket or any attraction I'll have to do a lot of walking.
If for whatever reason you've not got a prescription for the GTN spray, just a warm-up of five minutes gentle stretching works well to knock back the chest pain.
