Micro vascular disease and artery spasm tips and advice please ❤️

Hi I'm a newbie! I was told I have micovascular disease and artery spasm a couple of days ago. I'm 50 with 2 young children. Waiting to hear back from the consultant as to next steps. I feel like I've been punched in the chest after I've done some physical movement, even running out of puff after talking for a while. Any advice on how to begin living with this condition? Any tips on how you all manage? Thanks so much.

Hello Divasong

Welcome to the forum.

I have lived with Coronary vasospastic angina for 8 years. I could write a book on how to live with this condition!

The term Vasospastic angina tends now to be used to describe coronary artery spasms.

The BHF has this information about Microvascular and vasospastic angina.

How has your microvascular and vasospastic angina been diagnosed?

It takes times to adjust and learn to live with these conditions.

It can be bewildering at first.

I suggest you read through some of the previous posts about Microvascular and vasospastic angina you can search for these above.

There are quite a few of us on the forum living with either Microvascular and or vasospastic angina and I am sure they will be along to share their experiences with you too.

Thanks for your reply. Eccocardiogram stress test showed the damage. I also had an angiogram and there is 76% blockage in the right coronary artery as well. I have read the articles you suggest thanks. Stay safe and well.

mine was 95 per cent blocked in right coronary artery and I had no idea before the stress test, angiogram and then angioplasty, was becoming increasingly breathless but no other symptoms. Had a stent put in on April 1st.

hope you get on OK.

Hi Divasong

How are you getting on now? You’re going through a bad last time you posted, hope you’re feeling better now.

I’m now waiting for my stress test, I’m on the list but it’s a long one !!

Hi Fluffybee

Lovely to hear from you. I hope you don't have to wait ages for the stress test. How are you doing? Between spiders and snakes it's an exciting life you lead 🤣🤣.

I'm getting those bloody spasms every day throughout the day for weeks now. Started Ranexa last week but that's giving me stomach ache and ringing in my ears altho it has helped a little with the sob. (Get me and all my newly acquired abbreviations! 😉)

I'm assuming this is what is known as a cluster as its coming in waves all the time. It woke me last night for the first time so I'm hoping this isn't a new trend.

How are you doing apart from being on that waiting list? Sorry I'm being a right moaning minnie tonight, I'm on a roll!

Mind yourself

Hi Divasong

Very exciting life 😂😂

I had a bad day yesterday with a lot of chest pain and that horrible heaviness that comes with it. I don’t think a day goes past without something ....

Do you get to see your cardiologist and have one that is knowledgeable of the conditions.

My main consultant isn’t bad even though I’ve only seen him once, the test has been his registrar who asks me questions and passed it o so I don’t get the chance to ask questions.

Hopefully I’ll hear soon

Take care and hope you feel better soon, awful when it goes through the relentless phase.

Take care let me know how you get on 😃

Well I got the verdict - mva & Vasospastic angina. Chest and back pain pretty full on and also more breathless. Atm I've no idea what triggers it for me so it will be a learning curve.

Hope you are all doing OK. X

Hi Divasong

How are you getting on?

I hope your pain has calmed down.

I’ve worked out that if I’ve done more than usual one day, the next day I get much more pain across my chest, shoulders, arms and back, and the usual heavy pressure feeling.

I do get chest pain after about 5-10 minutes of walking so I know those causes for it, oh and stress.... big time 🥴

During the night and when I first get up I’ve no idea, still finding that one out.

Have you managed to work out what causes any of your symptoms yet ? 😃
